What is Prairie State Smallies?
Prairie State Smallies was founded with the goal of fostering a fly fishing community throughout rural Illinois. Stories of days spent on tea-stained prairie rivers and streams, gear rundowns, and tactical approaches to fishing for smallmouth bass and other local species are all shared with the intent of promoting this beautiful sport and bringing recognition to an unsung region of the angling world.
More importantly, everything published on Prairie State Smallies is crafted with the Illinois angler in mind, especially those interested in joining the Prairie State’s fly fishing community. That includes advocating for the conservation of our land, water, and wildlife.
